Connecting expertise to bring research into healthcare.
New medical advances draw on many fields of expertise.
Basic medicine uncovers disease mechanisms. Clinical medicine works directly with patients. Life sciences analyze cells and tissues. Information science makes sense of vast amounts of data. Business development brings research findings into society as intellectual property, products, and businesses.
Biozipcode, Inc. works with researchers, physicians, business development professionals, and collaborators in Japan and abroad to build an R&D team that connects basic research with practical application.

SCIENTIFIC LEADERSHIP
Research & Development / Advisor
Hideto Kojima
Kyoto University, Graduate School of Medicine and Faculty of Medicine
Specially Appointed Professor, Department of Biocommunication Development (Industry–Academia Joint Research Department)
Hideto Kojima, M.D., Ph.D.
For many years, he has studied why diabetes can be difficult to treat and pursued research that could lead to treatments addressing its underlying causes, with a focus on diabetes and regenerative medicine.
His work examines abnormal hematopoietic stem cells and bone marrow-derived cells in diabetes. Building on the research concept of “diabetes stem cells” (DSCs), he is pursuing research aimed at complete remission of diabetes.
He is also developing new diagnostic and therapeutic technologies for diabetes, cancer, and other difficult-to-treat conditions through Biozipcode™ cell-targeting technology, which uses short peptides that recognize specific cells and tissues.
Since 2026, he has served as a Specially Appointed Professor in the Department of Biocommunication Development, an industry–academia joint research department at Kyoto University’s Graduate School of Medicine and Faculty of Medicine.
BUILDING THE NEXT TEAM
From research to clinical development.
Building the team for the next phase.
Biozipcode, Inc. has advanced research into diabetes stem cells, Biozipcode™, biomarkers, and cell-targeted therapy through joint research with universities.
To move these findings into preclinical development, clinical trials, regulatory affairs, manufacturing, and commercialization, we need people with hands-on drug development experience as well as research expertise.
We currently operate with a small core team. As we move toward clinical development, we are gradually expanding our management, technology, finance, and clinical development capabilities.
We are building our team around the question of “What expertise do we need to reach the next milestone?”
FROM ACADEMIC SCIENCE TO BIOTECH DEVELOPMENT
Combining academic research
with the ability to develop medicines.
Biozipcode, Inc. has built a research foundation over many years in diabetes, hematopoietic stem cells, bone marrow-derived cells, and Biozipcode™.
Generating strong scientific findings and advancing them toward approval as medicines require different capabilities.
Looking ahead,
ACADEMIC SCIENCE
scientific discovery and an understanding of disease mechanisms
and
BIOTECH DEVELOPMENT
product design, preclinical development, CMC, clinical trials, regulatory affairs, and business development
need to come together within one organization.
We are building a team where people with experience in pharmaceutical development, clinical care, finance, and business development can make decisions alongside researchers.
About Us
Grounded in diabetes stem cell research and Biozipcode™ cell-targeting technology, we work toward treatments that address the roots of hard-to-treat diseases and new approaches to care.
We work with pharmaceutical companies, research organizations, healthcare providers, and investors to advance new treatments through collaborative research, out-licensing, and co-development.
We work to take discoveries made at universities beyond the lab and develop them into diagnostic and therapeutic technologies that reach patients.
A research-driven biotech company built on joint research with universities, translating scientific findings into new diagnostic and therapeutic technologies for real-world use.
Our team brings together expertise in medicine, life sciences, information science, and business development to advance projects from basic research toward real-world applications.
