Sharing our research with a wider audience.
Turning research findings into new medical care takes more than publication. It also means sharing the background, significance, and possibilities of that research with a wider audience.
Biozipcode, Inc. communicates its work on diabetes stem cells, research toward complete diabetes remission, and Biozipcode™ cell-targeting technology through conference presentations, lectures, research videos, and seminars.
From academic presentations for specialists to accessible videos for the public, we share our findings in a range of formats.
This page includes academic and preclinical research, research videos, lectures, and media coverage. References in videos and lectures to “complete remission” or a “cure” for diabetes may concern preclinical studies in mice or other animals, or research and development goals.
The curative diabetes treatment candidates, diabetes stem cell biomarker, and Biozipcode™ cell-targeted therapy candidates under study by Biozipcode, Inc. are not established, approved treatments or diagnostics for humans. Nor is 5-ALA approved or established as a treatment that induces complete diabetes remission.
The research findings and statements in each video reflect the data and hypotheses available at the time of presentation.

DIABETES STEM CELLS
Complete remission of STZ diabetes by removing “Diabetes Stem Cells”
Intervening in Diabetes Stem Cells and Research Toward Complete Remission
In this presentation, Professor Hideto Kojima explains why diabetes can be difficult to reverse, introduces the research concept of abnormal hematopoietic stem cells called “diabetes stem cells” (DSCs), and discusses research into complete remission in STZ-induced diabetic mice.
Rather than viewing diabetes solely as a blood glucose disorder, the research examines whether hematopoietic stem cells and bone marrow-derived cells altered by diabetes may sustain the disease process.
The presentation also discusses the mouse study published in Communications Biology in 2023, which combined insulin with a course of the HDAC inhibitor givinostat.
Main Topics
- Why diabetes can be difficult to reverse
- Bone marrow-derived cells and diabetes
- Diabetes stem cells as a research concept
- Abnormal hematopoietic stem cells and diabetic complications
- Epigenetic abnormalities
- Preclinical research combining insulin and an HDAC inhibitor
- Beta-cell regeneration
- Links with thymic and immune function
- Future research toward complete remission
DIABETES CURE RESEARCH
Toward a Future Without Diabetes
― Please support research toward curing diabetes and its complications
This video introduces the background, findings to date, and challenges of putting research into practice, explaining to a general audience the work toward treatments that address the underlying causes of diabetes and its complications.
It presents a research direction that looks beyond lifelong management of diabetes: intervening in the processes that sustain the disease so that health gains persist after treatment ends.
The video was produced as part of a crowdfunding campaign to support the research.
ACADEMIC PRESENTATIONS
Academic & Research Presentations
Research findings have also been presented at conferences and research meetings in Japan and abroad.
One presentation in diabetes stem cell research is titled:
Complete remission of STZ diabetes by removing “Diabetes Stem Cells”
It explores the relationship between abnormal hematopoietic stem cells and complete remission in diabetes models.
Research materials describe findings presented at endocrinology and diabetes meetings, including ENDO 2024.
Main Presentation Topics
DIABETES STEM CELLS
Diabetes stem cells and abnormal hematopoietic stem cells
DIABETES REMISSION
Research toward complete diabetes remission
DIABETIC COMPLICATIONS
Bone marrow-derived cells and diabetic complications

BIOZIPCODE™ PRESENTATIONS
Biozipcode™ & Cell Targeting Research
Biozipcode™ research grew out of phage display studies seeking peptides that bind to specific cells and tissues.
Findings have been presented on
- Peptides targeting dorsal root ganglia (DRG)
- Homing to the spinal cord
- siRNA delivery to microglia
- Targeted gene delivery
- Targeting cancer cells and tumor tissue
and related topics.
The research now also combines

+
laser capture microdissection
+
NGS
+
bioinformatics
to analyze peptide selection across vascular, parenchymal, and other compartments within organs.
