Our team has made new advances in diabetes treatment and published the findings in a research paper.

This study suggests that treatment may induce remission (a complete cure) of diabetes and its complications. The findings were published in the scientific journal Communications Biology on June 13, 2023, and presented as a new breakthrough in diabetes treatment.

Specifically, we investigated a treatment combining insulin therapy with the HDAC inhibitor givinostat in a mouse model of diabetes. This approach was shown to achieve complete remission of diabetes.

The study also suggests that abnormalities in bone marrow cells associated with diabetes may impair β-cell regeneration, pointing to potential therapeutic approaches involving bone marrow transplantation or epigenetic modification. In particular, treatment with the HDAC inhibitor was shown to maintain blood glucose levels within the normal range even after insulin therapy was discontinued, highlighting its potential as a new approach to diabetes treatment.
